Verizon Boosts FiOS Speed

Verizon announced plans to expand the availability of its fastest fiber-optic Internet service to 10 additional states, bringing the total to 16.Verizon FiOS plans offering download speeds of up to 50 megabits/second are already available in six East Coast states. Now the company's home and small-business customers in California, Delaware, Indiana, Maryland, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Washington will also get access to the fastest plans. The 50 mbps download/20 mpbs upload plans will run $139.95 per month.

Verizon spokesperson Bobbi Henson said existing customers will not be moved to the new plans and speeds unless they ask.Wired, Wall Street Journal
