Vox Launches VoIP Video Phone
Ojo Vision offers unlimited calling, videoconferencing, and TV display connections to small and midsize businesses and home users.

Ojo Vision Digital Video Phone
Voice over IP (VoIP) provider Vox Communications on Tuesday introduced its Ojo Vision Digital Video Phone and service.
The device is geared at consumers and small and midsized businesses (SMBs). The Ojo Vision Digital Video Phone has a seven-inch, high-resolution LCD digital screen and its contact list includes snapshot photos. The device also works as a digital phone frame, the company said.
The service plans for the phone include video calling, caller ID, call waiting, and three-way calling. Additionally, other features enable users to conduct three-way videoconferencing, connecting to a large screen LCD or TV, and unlimited video calling, the company said.
"Based on the growing consumer and business demand, bringing the Ojo Vision to our customers this year was very important to us,'' said Mark Richards, CIO of Pervasip, which owns Vox Communications, and claims that they are one of the first companies to offer this type of device for business and consumer users. "We have seen many video products over the years, and until now, none came up to our rigorous testing standards of quality." He said the device works out of the box "from the moment it is powered on."
Vox offers service plans starting at $9.95 per month, which includes unlimited voice calling in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, low-rate international calling, and unlimited free voice and video calling to other Vox customers. The Ojo Vision Digital Video Phone is available for $249.95 with no service contract.
The market for VoIP spending is expected to rise 52% from 2010 to 2014, and penetration in businesses with a VoIP system deployed in at least one location will reach 79% by 2013, according to research firm In-Stat.
Vox Communications offers VoIP telephone services for residential and small business customers as an alternative to traditional phone services.
