The Astaro Corporation last week announced the Astaro Security Gateway line of Linux-based network security appliances aimed at small and medium businesses (SMBs), departments of large enterprises, and government and non-profit agencies.

The Astaro Security Gateway appliances sit between the corporate network and the outside world and provide protection for all types of networks and all types of computer systems, including Windows, Linux and Unix-based PCs and servers.

The rack-mountable appliances are configured and managed through Astaro's graphical Web interface. All models include the Astaro Security Linux firewall, VPN gateway, and intrusion protection. Upgrades include virus protection, spam blocking, and URL filtering.

"By providing our award-winning Astaro Security Linux software on fully integrated appliances, our customers get a comprehensive and highly configurable set of network security products that give them complete control over network security, and over their budgets," said Jan Hichert, CEO of Astaro, in a statement.

The Astaro Security Gateway models 110, 120, 220, and 320 range in price from $695 to $4,995 and will be available February 1 through Astaro's solution partners. More information can be found at the Astaro Web site.
