FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- BitDefender®, an award-winning provider of antivirus software and data security solutions, today warned users about a third unpatched vulnerability found in Microsoft Word. BitDefender is the first vendor to detect the exploit code for this third Microsoft Word vulnerability and currently the only security software vendor to protect against it.

Over the past two weeks, two other vulnerabilities were detected. Microsoft addressed these vulnerabilities within two days after they were found. Microsoft has yet to address or patch this third vulnerability. By opening infected Word documents containing an exploit code, users risk the security of their computers by triggering denial-of-service attacks. BitDefender not only has protected users from this vulnerability, but has also protected users from being attacked from the last two exploit codes, proving the effectiveness of BitDefender products.

By being the first vendor to detect and protect against this new MS Word vulnerability demonstrates BitDefender’s proven ability to offer the market’s strongest and first available security solutions for protecting consumers and small to mid-sized businesses against the latest security threats.
