VPN and firewall vendor Check Point Software Technologies Monday introduced a series of wireless security appliances aimed at small business wireless LANs.

The appliances, which include a built-in WLAN access point, support 802.11g. The appliances, which the company calls its Safe@Office 400W series, can serve either as access points or four-switch LAN ports, the company said in a statement. The appliances are aimed at businesses with between 1 and 100 users and incorporate Check Point's VPN-1/FireWall-1 technology.

The appliances are available now and start at $499. The company said they are specifically designed for businesses that don't have IT personnel to set up and manage such security. To that end, the company said it has built in its Security Management Portal, which enables outside service providers to manage the devices.
