REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- Check PointSoftware Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced the immediate offering of Check Point VPN-1R UTM Edge security appliances to customers of The Planet, one of the world's largest and best known server and Internet hosting providers based in the United States, who desire instant connectivity and security in a hosted, managed service environment. Check Point VPN-1 UTM Edge delivers the most comprehensive all-in-one security to ensure customers are actively protected against new, evolving threats without the complexity often associated with a high level of security. The Planet is a dedicated server hosting company with four data centers, 28,000 servers and 800 firewalls currently under management. The Planet is widely known within the industry for its high standards when providing security and professional services as well as meeting the demanding regulatory compliance requirements placed upon hosting and managed services providers.
"While other vendors offer virtual firewalls and limited features in their products, most of our customers prefer a dedicated appliance with a comprehensive set of integrated security features and as a result, VPN-1 UTM Edge was an easy choice," said Ryan Carter, director of information security at The Planet. "The determining factor in replacing our existing selection of firewalls was Check Point's unified security architecture and Security Management Portal(TM) that allows us to easily report, update and change policies for all of our hosted customers without service interruption or network downtime -- making the management of multiple VPN-1 UTM Edge appliances simple and almost effortless."
Managed security services can involve repetitive and confusing tasks, a multitude of equipment, provide insufficient compatibility with existing billing systems and require a large financial investment. Check Point VPN-1 UTM Edge is an all-in-one security appliance with integrated stateful inspection firewall, intrusion prevention, gateway antivirus and IPSEC VPN that can be deployed in minutes to securely connect hosted networks without on-site IT staff and without additional equipment to purchase. Cooperative enforcement with the Check Point Integrity endpoint security solution enables complete network protection, allowing administrators to enforce endpoint compliance with corporate security policies before granting access onto the branch office network. Its remote management console, Security Management Portal offers a robust, resilient architecture that supports tens to tens of thousands of gateway appliances using an intuitive, Web-based interface that includes a host of service-provider oriented capabilities and allows easy and quick integration with existing systems, such as billing systems. Security Management Portal provides an easy way to view, edit and navigate between service plans, customers, gateways and VPN/security policies -- further simplifying security provisioning and monitoring while increasing customer participation.
"The Planet has a ten year track record of providing customers the best value and service in their industry and we are proud to lend VPN-1 UTM Edge to help continue that tradition," said Dave Burton, director of product marketing at Check Point Software Technologies. "The Planet and their customers can have peace-of-mind knowing that the strongest brand in enterprise security is deployed and protecting their networks, and the comprehensive set of integrated features found within the VPN-1 UTM Edge product will safeguard their business from current and future Internetthreats."
