OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. -- The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) announced today that its CompTIASecurity+(tm) certification, a benchmark of information technology (IT)security implementation skills, has been attained by more than 30,000 IT professionals worldwide.

CompTIA Security+ certification is an industry accepted credential that validates mastery of critical practices for communications security, infrastructure security, cryptography, and operational and organizational security.

"Job requirements for information security professionals are being elevated," said Neill Hopkins, vice president, skills development, CompTIA. "There is still a need for security professionals to install, maintain and update firewalls, password protection and encryption programs. But the field of information security is also becoming more specialized, and has attained an elevated profile in organizations.Consequently, information security personnel must be equipped with greater versatility and a broader skill set than was required in the past. CompTIA Security+ has attained wide acceptance across industries and among organizations because it sets a solid foundation for a career in information security."
