REGINA, Saskatchewan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NetSecure Technologies, a provider of online transaction security solutions for financial institutions, announced availability of its personal credit card reader, SmartSwipe, for financial institutions to help protect consumers' private information while they shop online. Now, credit card holders can swipe their credit card from their home computer just like in a store. Using the same level of encryption found in ATMs, SmartSwipe encrypts the card information while being swiped, rendering it unreadable to hackers and malicious programs.

With hackers becoming more sophisticated, anti-virus software is no longer enough to protect consumers. SmartSwipe provides proactive protection against all existing attacks as well as new emerging attacks designed to steal sensitive personal information. By leveraging NetSecure's Dynamic SSL technology, SmartSwipe secures sensitive data at the point of origin, before it ever reaches the computer, protecting sensitive financial and personal information from endpoint threats such as Keylogging, Spyware and Man-in-the-Browser. "Consumer confidence in banks is at an all-time low," said Daniel McCann, president, NetSecure Technologies. "By providing customers with a means to safely shop online, banks have an opportunity to regain customer trust. The bank is putting the customer in control of their information and enabling them to purchase without ever having their personal information leave their desk, literally."

McCann continued, "Additionally, SmartSwipe is the first security product that can actually generate recurring revenues for financial institutions. Consumers have shown a willingness to pay a premium for security, and SmartSwipe provides a new and untapped revenue opportunity. The ultimate 'top of the wallet' product, SmartSwipe not only generates revenue, but improves customer loyalty - two things desperately needed in today's financial environment."

SmartSwipe is convenient and easy to use. Customers plug SmartSwipe into their computer's USB port and install the provided software. When customers are ready to checkout, they simply swipe their credit card and the information is encrypted and automatically populated into the required fields.

Initially released to consumers in late 2009, SmartSwipe has already set itself apart from other personal credit card reader products on the market. Thousands of units have already been purchased by consumers at an average price of $89 each, showing consumer demand for online safety and willingness to pay a premium for it. SmartSwipe is now available to financial institutions at corporate rates and packages to ensure competitiveness and the potential to earn revenue.
