Integrating Shavlik's engine into Secure Resolutions middleware agent allows Secure Resolutions to broaden the range of security services VARs can offer to their customers. Using the Secure Resolutions platform, with just an internet connection, VARs can now offer managed security that includes protection against all forms of malware plus Shavlik's enterprise class patch management. The Secure Resolutions application contains a thin client that resides on the desktop or server and is managed through groups and policies on a web-based management console similar to an ASP model. The benefit to small and medium size businesses is very simple; they receive an inclusive enterprise security application without having to purchase dedicated hardware. Secure Resolutions agent technology has distributed server technology built into it which provides lower bandwidth for updating and faster delivery of patches and malware signature updates. With the model similar to an ASP infrastructure this allows businesses to use these tools with a reduced level of expertise.

By adding Shavlik's patch and spyware management to its architecture, Secure Resolutions offers customers another means of defense against attacks. Using the Managed Security solution, VARs, who are authorized to provide Managed Services, act as an IT administrator for third party businesses overseeing the protection of all computers in their customer's network from a secured web-based management console.
