COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- STORServer, manufacturer of the all-in-one suite of Business Continuity Appliances, announces today the STORServer V-Series Data Protection Appliance. The STORServer V-Series Data Protection Appliance is both a revolutionary and evolutionary implementation of STORServer’s industry leading product offerings that simplify the management of complex IT operations in the areas of system, storage and data protection.

STORServer Data Protection Appliances are a suite of fully integrated solutions for backup, archive and disaster recovery. Each appliance includes certified hardware and software for comprehensive, easy-to-use data protection. Appliances are scalable, enterprise-wide solutions that support more than a dozen operating system platforms, many e-mail and database platforms, various network connections and hundreds of storage devices.

By delivering all of the features of STORServer’s Data Protection Appliances on a VMware ESX server architecture, the company continues to provide an enterprise-class solution with unparalleled ease of use, while bringing the benefits of VMware server virtualization in a fully integrated appliance solution. Virtualization offers numerous benefits to organizations, including consolidated servers, expandability, disaster recovery, reduced costs and maximized infrastructure.

Basing the architecture of the STORServer V-Series Data Protection Appliance on VMware’s ESX server technology allows other desired features and functionality to be rapidly added through the use of additional VMware virtual appliances, such as remote replication, continuous data protection and de-duplication.

“With increasing concerns over energy consumption in the data center, STORServer has established the V-Series Data Protection Appliance as one of the most energy efficient solutions available in the market today,” said Bill Smoldt, vice president of research and development for STORServer. “We will continue our efforts to ‘green’ the datacenter, while at the same time improving capabilities and functionality of our Data Protection Appliances.”
