Trend Micro today announced Email Security Services, a hosted email protection service that offers a cost-effective alternative to on-site hardware or software at the messaging gateway.

Specifically designed for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) with small (or nonexistent) IT staffs, the service stops threats before they reach the customer's gateway. A Web-based administration console provides access to detailed reports on threats blocked, content filtering settings, and policy management options. The service also offers a mail-tracking tool that allows the administrator to quickly locate and determine the status of any message received by the system.

There are three levels of services: Anti-Spam Service; Basic Email Security Service; and Extended Email Security Service. Pricing depends on the number of users and the level of service chosen.

The Anti-Spam Service helps eliminate spam based on IP reputation, providing reports and message tracking. For 100 users, the suggested retail pricing is $795 per year.

The Basic Email Security Service builds upon the Anti-Spam service to provide additional security against spam, viruses, and malicious code. For 100 users, the suggested retail pricing is $1,596 per year. Finally, the Extended Email Security Service combines the Basic Service with content filtering and policy management for message compliance through a remote console. For 100 users, the suggested retail pricing is $2,280 per year.
