A wireless broadband vendor Monday announced WiMAX wireless equipment that it said is capable of being fully certified as being compliant with that standard.

Redline Communications announced that it will show WiMAX-certifiable equipment at this week's WCA International Symposium and Business Expo in San Jose, California. Specifically, it will show its AN-100U WiMAX platform, which it says is ready for interoperability testing.

Redline has already been selling pre-certified equipment that it says is upgradeable to fully certified status. Redline sells its equipment to larger wireless operators. The vendor also said it is working on mobile WiMAX equipment but provided no details.

Separately, Motorola said it has introduced new wireless broadband products into the European market. It said its Canopy Advantage products can easily evolve to support future WiMAX technology.

While the WiMAX standard is ratified, no equipment has yet been certified as officially being WiMAX-compliant. That certification is expected for a number of vendors' equipment in the first half of this year with the equipment becoming commercially available immediately thereafter.
