Verizon Biz Picks Juniper

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR),the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that VerizonBusiness has selected the WXC platform, a highly scalable WAN accelerationsolution, for a new Managed WAN Optimization Service. Juniper'shigh-performance WXC platform enables Verizon Business' professionalservices staff to fine-tune network performance to improve applicationdelivery and reduce bottlenecks. Verizon's new Managed WAN OptimizationService, which relies on Juniper's WXC platform, can help distributedenterprises to accelerate application delivery over the WAN, leverage WANinvestments and boost user productivity.

The WXC platform improves application performance over the WAN byrecognizing and eliminating redundant transmissions; accelerating TCP andapplication-specific protocols; prioritizing and allocating access tobandwidth; and ensuring high application availability at sites with multipleWAN links. The WXC application acceleration platforms work end-to-end with amultitude of applications, including Web-based, client-server, customsoftware, voice and video. The platforms also include a broad set ofmanagement tools for monitoring and reporting on WAN and applicationperformance.
