CA's Wireless Site Management 4.0 Tackles Wi-Fi Security
New version can be integrated with CA's eTrust and Unicenter to provide a single interface to manage a wireless infrastructure.

Computer Associates International, Inc. has announced CA Wireless Site Management 4.0 (WSM), a management product for wired and wireless network infrastructures intended to reduce the security risks of Wi-Fi by identifying unauthorized devices and access points.
CA WSM can be integrated with CA's eTrust security management solutions to enforce and manage enterprise security policies, and augments the CA's Unicenter operations management software to provide a single interface to manage a wireless infrastructure as an extension of a heterogeneous wired infrastructure.
WSM also enables IT administrators to:
Enforce access controls on Wi-Fi environments. WSM identifies the physical locations of wireless infrastructure components. It generates, distributes, rotates and synchronizes WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) keys for secure wireless communications, based on policies defined by security administrators. User access also can be restricted by time of day.
Monitor and manage a Wi-Fi infrastructure. WSM monitors the configuration, performance and quality of enterprise Wi-Fi networks. It automatically balances the number of connections on each access point. The software generates reports on security vulnerabilities, usage and performance.
WSM works with third-party hardware devices including radio frequency sensors from Highwall Technologies Inc., a designer and developer of software and hardware that supports the security and management of WLANs and protects wired networks from unauthorized wireless devices.
