Verizon's 'Fivespot' Provides Worldwide Coverage For Five Wi-Fi Devices
The "global ready mobile hotspot" will enable users to connect and share data connections with up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices.

Already serving its customers with mobile phones equipped for global telephoning, Verizon Wireless reported Monday that it has launched its Verizon Wireless Fivespot, a "global ready mobile hotspot" that enables users to connect and share data connections with up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices.
The device, which measures 3.92-x by 2.11-by 0.55-inches, will be available for $99.99 beginning this Thursday in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores after a $100 mail-in rebate. Developed by ZTE USA Inc. the Fivespot provides global data service in more than 200 countries -- 120 of which have 3G speeds.
The Fivespot, which comes with a pre-installed SIM card, is capable of connecting different devices including netbooks, tablets and gaming devices.
The versatile Fivespot supports leading infrastructure architectures including CDMA 1xEV-DO Rev. A/Rev.0: 800/1900 MHz; WCDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA: 850/1900/2100 MHz; and GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz. The Fivespot, which weighs 2.82 ounces, also has VPN support.
Customers using the service in the US can choose from a variety of prepaid or monthly post paid plans. The prepaid plans are $15 for 100 MB for one day of use, $30 for 300 MB for one week, or $50 for 1 GB or $80 for 5 GB for 30 days. Monthly access is available for $39.99 for 250 MB and $59.99 for 5 GB.
Different plans are available for customers traveling abroad. A $130 monthly access plan features 5 GB usage allowance in the U.S. and Canada and a 100 MB allowance in select countries. Another $220 monthly plan provides 5 GB allowance in the US and Canada and a 200 MB allowance in select countries. Verizon Wireless, which is jointly owned by Verizon Communications and Vodafone Group, said that additional information is available at Verizon Wireless stores or by calling 800 -2-JOIN In.
