Vitria Technology today launched a new integration suite focused on using open standards, like the Eclipse modeling environment, to help companies integrate their service-oriented and event-driven application architectures.

Best known for its legacy application and B2B integration capabilities-- including its BusinessWare software--Vitria now turns its attention to broader process integration issues (see analysis, right).Vitria's Business Accelerator aims to be a platform-agnostic SOA suite, letting enterprises integrate existing in-house and packaged applications plus disparate SOA pieces, including services, events, applications, automated processes and human workflow. The suite works with industry-standard J2EE application servers and messaging platforms to further service-enable a company's overall application infrastructure.

The SOA integration software comes in two editions: Business Accelerator ESB Edition includes a lightweight enterprise service bus to enable small SOA projects. Business Accelerator Process Edition offers fuller process integration capabilities. Both versions are based on the Eclipse modeling environment.

Also today, Vitria announced Resolution Accelerator 3.0, an enhancement to its business application for exception resolution. The software provides tools for managing service-based business exceptions at the system, service, process and business levels, Vitria said. Visual dashboards, rules-based exception classification and routing, and a "mass repair" feature that fixes multiple instances of an exception at one time help IT keep complex service environments up and running.

Business Accelerator is available immediately. Business Accelerator ESB Edition is priced at $15,000 per CPU. Business Accelerator Process Edition costs $40,000 per CPU. Resolution Accelerator will be released in April, priced at $50,000 per CPU.
