WLAN management vendor AirWave Wireless Thursday released its new AirWave Management Platform (AMP), which it says uses both wireless and wireline methodology to find and deal with rogue access points (APs).

The company said it added wireline-based detection because rogue APs can be located outside the range of wireless sensors. The system works with a variety of other vendors' products, including Cisco's WLSE framework and Cisco Aironet access points, the company said in a statement.

Using wired networks, the system can also detect a variety of access points and other unauthorized WLAN equipment, the company said. Once unauthorized equipment is found, it can be deactivated via a centralized management console, according to AirWave.

The system supports both 802.11a and g. The product is available now but the company provided no pricing information.
