Google Talk instant t messaging and Google's local search capabilities for mobile devices will be included on BlackBerry devices, the companies announced Thursday.

“Instant messaging and local content are two increasingly important areas of focus for mobile applications, Mark Guibert, Research In Motion's vice president for corporate marketing, said in a statement. “Google Talk for BlackBerry and Google Local for mobile will offer additional flexibility to BlackBerry customers in terms of how, when and where they stay in touch.”

Google will develop a version of its Google Talk client specifically for BlackBerry devices, the companies said. That software will be available this spring, the companies said.

In addition, users can now download Google Local to work on their BlackBerry devices. That service provides maps and satellite images of specific areas, provides driving directions and helps users find specific local businesses.
