Communications aggregator iPass said Wednesday it will offer flat-rate pricing to enterprises for access to hotspots from a variety of operators.

IPass previously offered packages that included access to mobile employees via a variety of methods from many different service providers, including dial-up and wired broadband as well as wireless hotspots. The company said the flat-rate pricing was an attempt to make expenses for hotspot access more predictable.

Among the hotspot offerings in iPass' portfolio are those from T-Mobile, which has the largest network of hotspots in the U.S.

"This 'all-you-can-eat' approach allows the IT department to reliably budget the cost of Wi-Fi hotspot access across an entire organization or for a subset within it," Jon Russo, the company's vice president of marketing, said in a statement. "IPass expects this new optional pricing plan to further accelerate Wi-Fi usage."

A spokesperson said that the actual flat rate will vary and will based on several factors including the number of users in a particular organization and whether the enterprise makes a monthly or annual commitment.
