Wireless switch vendor Trapeze Networks Monday unveiled a switch it said is aimed at WLANs in branch offices.

The company's claimed in a statement that its MXR-2 will reduce the time needed to deploy and manage WLANs in remote offices and will ensure that security precautions taken for a company's larger WLANs are deployed in more remote locations. Trapeze said that the switch supports all standard methods of authentication and encryption as well as access control lists.

Configurations for the switch can be downloaded from the enterprise's headquarters.

Trapeze said the switch will be available for $995 in the fourth quarter of this year.
