Any network manager who's tried to manage a voice network operating on voice over IP systems from both Cisco Systems and Avaya knows it isn't easy. Running Avaya Communication Manager and Cisco Unified CallManager (now Cisco Unified Communications Manager) side-by-side significantly complicates the maintenance of voice quality, logging and reporting.

Integrated Research thinks it has the answer. The company announced on Monday that its Prognosis IP Telephony Manager 9.0 will monitor and manage voice quality, device status and utilization and device performance and fault notification across both the Avaya and Cisco IP platforms.

Using Integrated Research's IP Telephony Manager 9.0, IT can give operations staff a single view of both environments. This eliminates the need for multiple analysis tools and reduces the time and costs of training staff on both platforms.

Prognosis IP Telephony Manager 9.0 is priced per phone with list pricing beginning at $50 per phone.
