The wireless LAN (WLAN) market will grow at an annual rate of 30 percent per year, and will hit $5 billion next year, according to a new report by Research and Markets. The report also found that WLAN sales have increased 60 percent compared to last year.

Home and small office wireless networks are primarily driving the growth, with a projected growth rate of 103 percent, the report says. Wireless sales to enterprises are expected to grow by 32 percent.

The report concludes that WLAN growth is being driven primarily by the rapid spread of broadband infrastructure, as well as rapid advances in WiFi technology.
