5G Wireless Communications will roll out its G-Force family of new wireless gear at next week's Broadband Wireless World, a trade show and conference scheduled for Feb. 24 and 25 in San Diego., the company said Friday.
The G-Force system, according to 5G, will include access points that expand the range of 802.11b-compliant wireless devices -- including laptops equipped with Intel's Centrino chip set and technology -- to as far as one mile, and allow up to 1,000 simultaneous users per radio, a dramatic boost over the 20 to 30 same-time users allowed by competitors' gear.
G-Force products can transmit voice, data, and video at speeds up to 5.5Mbps in both directions and are 100 percent compatible with existing 802.11b hardware and software, the company said.
